-The saliva and feaces of rats and mice transmit the most common diseases.

What diseases do rats carry

What diseases do rats carry the most are:

  • Hantavirus: The virus, found in urine, saliva and faeces of the animal, is mixed with the atmosphere by means of air or dust. Initial symptoms are fever and muscle aches. However, the primary symptom of hantavirus disease is the difficulty of breathing that is caused by the accumulation of fluid in the lungs. Transmitted mainly by voles.

The symptoms of hantavirus in the beginnings are often confused with pneumonia.

  • Leptospirosis: is transmitted by the urine of rats, also with the feces and urine of dogs and cows. The clinical picture presented is similar to the flu with high fever, chills, sweating, headaches, muscle aches and lumbar region. In some cases it is passed to a second phase with more serious is called Weil’s disease and its symptoms are renal manifestations such as high levels of protein and blood in the urine, liver damage manifested by jaundice.

-Gastrointestinal tapeworm, flatworms.Tapeworms produce millions of eggs ,daily, which are „let out“ with the rat droppings. Rats spread the worms through the feces and infect animals who ingest the feaces. When human eats meat from animals with worms, undercooked, he/she becomes infected. In most cases the infestation is without symptoms.

  • Trichinosis: It is a parasitic disease caused by a nematode called Trichinella spiralis. Rat transmits through rat droppings. It attacks all mammals and can be transmitted to humans. The infection usually occurs by ingestion of encysted larvae in the muscles. They are released into the stomach and there they mature in the small intestine. In severe infections, which cause illness and sometimes death, symptoms are diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, mild fever and abdominal pain.

  • Toxoplasmosis: is a medical term given to a human and many other animals infectious disease caused by an intracellular parasite of worldwide distribution. It is called Toxoplasma gondii. The disease is considered a zoonosis, i.e. normally exist in other animals. But it can be transmitted to humans. The primary source of infection is the rat droppings. Toxoplasmosis can cause mild and symptomatic infections and life-threatening infections that mostly affect the fetus, newborns, elderly and vulnerable people. How to keep rats from home

It is commonly believed that domestic rodents  only visit the homes of  poor hygiene. And there is some truth in it: where there are nesting material and lots of food, there comes the pest society. (rats, cockroaches etc.)

But in the cities, domestic rats like to make a living even in the cleanest homes. The order is no longer a limitation for these animals that are in search of food and shelter, so if you have these urban visitors in your home, you have some natural alternatives to keep them away from home, without resorting to poisons and hazardous chemicals .

Mint peppermint against rats

Its strong aroma is unpleasant for domestic rodents, thus mixing a cup of water with a generous tablespoon mint peppermint extract, and emulsified.

Place the liquid in a spray bottle to spray in the corners, behind furniture and in places where issues that may enter or remain in rats. That’s far off, while leave your home with a delicate fragrance of mint.

Tabasco sauce to scare away the rats

Tabasco sauce is our next natural recipe against rats.

Mix one cup of water, half of laundry detergent, and two tablespoons of tabasco sauce. Apply in corners and corridors outside the home where rodents have issues, so that the aroma definitely scare away. You can repeat the task every one or two months.

Cayenne pepper to prevent rodents

Place containers with cayenne pepper (or clove) in the cupboards, behind furniture and in places where rats can pass out of reach of pets and children. The strong aroma will make them run away from your home, and you have a natural recipe without leaving hazardous waste.

Ammonia against rats

The strong smell of ammonia is repellent to any living being. It is dangerous to plants, animals and people, so you should use it with caution.

Ammonia mixed with water and placed in a spray bottle, spraying the corners and ventilated outdoor sites. The aroma will make the rats think that there are huge animals in the house (because of its similarity to the smell of urine), and kept away.

The sheets of the clothes dryer and cleaning tablets of the toilet bowl, are other options to ward off domestic rodents. Simply place them behind furniture and in tight corners for its strong aroma emanating, driving them away safely.
