Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome
Hantavirus pulmonary syndrome is disseminated by rat feces or mouse feces .Sometimes it can be fatal infection. The infection is spread by direct contact with rodent urine and feces. The hantavirus is also spread by inhalation of dust contaminated by mouse droppings or urine. Cotton mouse, rice rat, mouse deer and white-footed mice are responsible for spreading the hantavirus in the North and South America. Initial symptoms include fever, fatigue and muscle pain. Later symptoms will rise like shortness of breath and coughing. The death rate is 38% for hantavirus.
Lymphocytic choriomeningitis
The lymphocytic choriomeningitis (LCM) is an infectious disease. It comes from mouse and other rodents. It is usually spread by the common house mouse. Humans get the virus through exposure to mouse saliva, rat feces or nesting materials. The LCM is more prevalent in Europe, North and South America, Japan and Australia. Symptoms begin with fever, loss of appetite, muscle pain, headache and vomiting. People infected with LCM may also experience coughing and chest or joint pain. The LCM is rarely fatal, with a death rate of less than 1%.
Salmonellosis
Salmonellosis is caused by drinking contaminated water or eating infected food by mice or rat feces. Salmonellosis occurs worldwide. Symptoms include fever, abdominal cramps and diarrhea. Medical tests are carried out to determine if the symptoms are derived from salmonellosis. Infections usually take place in five to seven days and require medical treatment, unless the only symptom is dehydration.
Rat bite fever
The rat bite fever is an infectious disease that occurs worldwide and is caused not only by rats but also mice. The rat bite fever can be spreaded by a bite or scratch from a rodent and by consuming food or water contaminated by rat feces or any other rodent feces. Symptoms begin with vomiting, fever, muscle and joint pain and headache. Within days, a rash appears on the hands and feet. Swollen joints are common. Antibiotics are effective in treating rat bite fever, but this infection can be fatal without treatment.
